Safe and reliable drainage for airports
BIRCO will be presenting maximum safety and flexibility in the areas of surface drainage and rainwater treatment at the 24th inter airport Europe in Munich from 10 to 13 October 2023. Among the more than 650 exhibitors from over 40 countries, the expert for rainwater management will be showing its sustainable and durable system solutions in the heavy-duty sector at exhibition stand 368 in hall B6.
Meeting place for the international airport community
For over 40 years, inter airport Europe has brought together the global airport community to showcase product innovations, technologies and services for the airport industry. This requires above all sustainable system solutions in all areas. "We are concerned with the question: How can we meet the challenges of climate change and the demands of highly frequented transport and traffic areas with our solutions?" explains Christian Merkel, CEO of BIRCO. "We are increasingly committed to the modernisation and sustainable design of sealed surfaces at airports and have been offering safe and durable solutions here for many years."
Highest load capacity
At the international industry show, the company based in Baden-Baden, Germany, will be focusing on the BIRCOmassiv® heavy-duty channel in nominal widths 170 and 220. Thanks to the modern BIRCOhyperbel design and C 60/75 concrete strength, the steel-reinforced concrete channel up to F900KN resistance class Type I (EN1433) ensures maximum safety in the drainage of heavily used handling and logistics areas. The frames with surface protection made of galvanised tear-drop steel sheet and integrated displacement protection as well as the ductile iron covers provide maximum grip and stability for the tyres of aircraft, transport and heavy-duty vehicles such as reach stackers, even in sub-zero temperatures. Another safety aspect: the BIRCOmassiv® has DIBt approval (German technical authority in the construction sector) and is ASR and de-icing liquids resistant. The new tongue and groove construction of the channel elements enables professional waterproofing jointing.
Compact and efficient solution
The monolithic reinforced concrete channel BIRCOport® is a simple and robust solution for airport construction. The channel body is designed for the highest load classes in the heavy load range and is predestined for heavily trafficked areas such as airports and logistics areas. The BIRCOport® can be integrated as an area-closing element on runways or industrial sites without the need for surroundings. A foam plate is installed to the end of the channel on site. This allows expansion and sealing joints for longer channel strands. The BIRCOport® system has DIBt approval for aggressive media.
"Max-i-mal" storage volume
In addition to a high load capacity for heavily trafficked areas, BIRCO also offers concepts for sustainable area drainage. By combining the properties of a channel system with those of a storage/cistern, the BIRCOmax-i® is an efficient drainage system for heavy rainfall events and flooding. Due to its immediate storage volume of up to 512 litres per linear metre, the robust channel body guarantees water storage close to the surface and permanent traffic safety. In nominal widths of 220 to 520 and heights of 500 to 1,200 mm, the system can also be planned as a water canal. BIRCOmax-i® has DIBt approval. This system also offers the new and innovative tongue and groove design and thus enables professional waterproof jointing.
Sustainable rainwater management
The BIRCOprime® drains areas between 2,000 and 7,000 square metres, cleans rainwater through particule sedimentation and thus relieves central sewage systems. The treatment system with seven sedimentation chambers reliably retains microplastics, heavy metals, tyre wear and other small particles with the help of physical settling processes. Designed for heavy-duty applications and large industrial areas, it can discharge rainwater both vertically and horizontally into sewers, infiltration, retention or usage systems. With this system, maintenance takes place close to the surface, allowing easy control and cleaning. BIRCOprime® can be classified according to DWA-A 102 and DWA-M 153.
